Ei pilata juhlia puhumalla kuolemasta

A middle-aged party at a new villa, with six old friends and one surprise guest, Nicke, Satu's new boyfriend. The film depicts one day from afternoon to night. During the evening, it becomes clear that most of the friends are having difficult times in their lives and have to hold back their emotions. What to reveal and what to leave unsaid so as not to spoil the atmosphere of the party? A multi-faceted realistic and somewhat satirical drama about the approach of death, real or imagined.

Crocodile Seed

What worlds transpire when colonial violence sparks radically different beings to meet?

Potentially climate-resilient seeds from 140 yr. dead, Singaporean crocodile: Australian geneticists divine seed origins. Finnish farmers coax them to grow.

The same crocodile hosts a spirit of a 19th C. Malayan tin mine mystic/anti-colonial fighter. Shrines for this spirit persist along the mangroves and rivers of Perak, which before the limestone mine devastation, and the British, and Chinese tin wars, and Malay royal dominance, was home to the Orang Semai, their forests, cave refuges and crocodile familiars.

Hiljaisten Oikeus

The art project launches a citizen initiative for the granting of subjective rights to sacred places and nature, and addresses the topic by making a film – intertwining film and activism. Our goal is to spark discussion and cause a land-legal movement. The film mixes documentary and fictionality into a common form, a utopia and a discourse that must be held. Thematically, the film highlights the meanings and questions of the sacred, agency and power. The perspective of subjective rights to nature challenges the dominant development discourse.
